Preliminaries, Semi-Finals, Finals

The competition will comprise of:

  • One hour, written theory paper to test the driver’s knowledge of the Highway Code, Defensive Driving concepts and operational aspects.
  • The theory will be written at the preliminary and semifinal stages of the competition only. Practical skills test.
  • At each stage of the competition a different driving and operational situation will be presented.
  • A route that incorporates all major hazards will be used to test the driver’s ability to negotiate such hazards.

Business Units are welcome to nominate observers to monitor the competition at all stages should they so desire.

Driving positive impact

These competitions have played a key role in significantly reducing road accidents and their associated social, economic, and environmental costs. Encouraging signs of similar success are emerging in the Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and Forklift categories as well. All indicators show that the competitions are effectively meeting their objectives, promoting safer roads, skilled drivers, and a culture of responsibility.

Our driver competitions benefit from strong partnerships with key stakeholders. ZIMOCO and Dulys actively support the initiative by sponsoring awards for economy driving, recognising drivers who achieve the best fuel consumption. Track It also contributes by awarding the safest driver, based on data covering speed, idling, harsh braking, and acceleration habits. These partnerships not only incentivise excellence but also reinforce a culture of safe, efficient driving.

    • General knowledge of road usage, road signs and hazards.
    • Vehicle checking, a thorough practical knowledge will be required.
    • Maneuvering skills i.e. Alley docking, Parallel parking, Serpentine etc.
    • Driver appearance – drivers will be expected to be smartly dressed in their respective company uniforms.
